pink footed geese migration - jean manson

The start of autumn is always heralded locally by the sound of the pink footed geese in the sky. They stop off here briefly on their migration south to rest and feed on the stubble fields. Every morning they come in to feed and every evening at sunset they rise as a single flock of thousands of birds to take off to their roost site. In the morning mists they all rise from the roost site to head back to the fields. A few will stay over winter, but most head further south. It is a wonderful time of year and a spectacle I will never tire of seeing.
